| carp reels? hi guys i was wondering if you can help me, with some advise on the reels i have been offered some shimano dl 10000's for my carp fishing setup. But im unsure as i read and see in catalouges different type reels such as free spool reels, big free drags, big pit reels and obvoiusly the baitrunner. can any one explain what these speciffically do? im after a kind of all rounder so to speak one i can cast a long way if need be but one that has nice line lay. any ideas/info (such as sites that explain the differences) will be appreciated thanks |

Big pits are large spooled reels with or with out a baitrunner free drag is where the spool cap/screw is set up so that a quick turn and its loose /tight. depends on how much money you want to spend there is http://www.tackleshop.co.uk/tacklesh...12000_xtbfish2 these http://www.tackleshop.co.uk/tacklesh...a_instant_drag or these http://www.tackleshop.co.uk/tacklesh...ro_xte_a_10000 |

| Re: carp reels? line comes off a spool easier when its bigger , i cast about 150 yds , i have about 450 yds of line one my spools , if i only had 250 yds on i would not be able to cast that far . Match your reels to your rod /venue .eg you dont need massive reels/sspools if your fishing a 3 acre lake . Why have a baitrunner for a spod /marker rod bait runner is not needed in this situation On a baitrunner you set the front drag/clutch is so the fish can take line off during the fight , you normally set this to your bs of line ,you do this so if the fish has a sudden lunge the line will not snap and you and your fish will not be parted |
