Is there any proof that the nuts killed it ?? if it was nuts which i dont think it was it would take weeks not days like they have stated to do any ,if any harm .
More than likely the reason was that it has been caught over 60 times over the years , It was starting to go back (loseing Weight ) as well . Which normally means that things aint right somewhere

as far as i know benson was the second very big carp the owner had lost in a very short space of time. must be heartbreaking to lose a fish like that.
