Exclamation 30lb+ Carp HELP!

Hiya, i have only been fishing for a few months now but i feel i am ready to move to bigger and better fish, i have caught 13lb Carp in Borwick Hall Fisheries. They have a lake called "Jimmy's Lake" this has 30lb+ Carp, what i needed to know was the equipement i would need, like the line stregnth, at the moment im only useing 4lb line. And the size hooks i would need and also best rig for carp fishing, Any info you could tell me about the big carp fishing would be really great. Hope to hear from you soon, Dean.

I agree Dean if you are going after them 30+s then i would use 15lb line. as for the rigs and bait what i try to do is find out as much info about the lake before i go and see what works as each venue differs and what works on 1 lake may not work on another.

Wow thats one hell of a jump from 13 to 30 , would you not be a bit better of getting a few of the 13/20 size before you target the bigger fish ,

I use 6lb/8 main line , 30 lb leader , 12 lb hook length

Re: 30lb+ Carp HELP!

i agree with nick r, try not to get to ahead of yourself to avoid dissapointment. im not saying your not capable because you may well be, but just take on something a little easier! on the tactics side of things i would use 12lb line as long as its not to snaggy then i would up it to 15lb. hook wise you could use anything from a size 10 to a size 4 in my opinion. its whatever your confident in! good luck!

Think Andys hit the nail on the head in the fact of 'Do something different' if everyones using snowmans use singles if they're using 18mm's try something different let common sense prevail....
