carp fishing help

hi guys

i have been quiver tip fishing for a while now and have caught a fair few carp upto 12lb

i want to get into to carp scene. I have picked up a few shimano dl 10000 and some rods but i have heard different views on set up's was hopeing you guys can help
Firstly why when carp fishing with alarms etc do people use braid to such a high strength? but feeder fishing for carp people dont seem to?

also when i see people carp fishing i see that the line does not seem to be tight? is this because you want to fish to hook itself (no strike) and take line from your reel?

Also is it best to have a weight that is clipped on or a inline weight? and what scenario would you want to use each rig?

sorry for so many questions but i have no one to really show me that ways

If there is any books / videos that anyone can recommend for showing me rigs etc please let me know

many thanks
