We got an afternoon off, we didn't give a damn So we went to see Banana Steve, a very nice man Tickets and directions, fishing kit in the back Sunglasses, trolley, nothing did we lack, 15 minutes later we pulled in to Berkley Lake Small problem though, we couldn't work the gate! Martin marched off all across the path, I stayed patting the ponies and feeding them some grass. Back with the solution, there's a button to be pressing Undid it, parked up, kit out, no messing. Bit of a walk, next time we will buy a barrow Will be easier down the path, a little bit narrow. Now, the lake, it was a nice surprise Hardly any ducks and a really good size Found a sunny spot, kitted up and settled down, Chucked out some freebies, carp were soon swirling around. 7 wildies later, they were really liking our baits Visitors, Full Creel and Steve, how are you getting on, mates? Off for a little wander, what's the rest of it like? Quite a big lake, could have done with a bike! Overshot with a cast, oh dear, lost a float! How deep is the water? Could do with a boat! Could jump in the water, how far does it go down? Don't worry, I'll rescue you if it looks like you might drown! No, can't do that, watched as it floated away We'll come back and collect it another day Packed up all the kit, wheeled trolley through the wood Off to Frome now, got to get some food On our way back home now from Berkley lake 9 lovely fish in the end, nice lake, good take!! ![]()

Re: A little recitation entitled "Our afternoon Off" You are right, it is a bit of a trek, but it's a lovely lake and the carp are gagging for it, biggest we caught was about 8lb, well worth the effort, Ben, but watch out for the trees! __________________ I say we fish 5 days, work 2

Re: A little recitation entitled "Our afternoon Off" Agree with you there dave, trouble is I always think, better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it!! We will be buying a barrow then it will be much easier, we need the excercise any way and if it is a good lake you don't mind do you? __________________ I say we fish 5 days, work 2

Re: A little recitation entitled "Our afternoon Off" there is nothing worse than having to treck for ages over rough terrain full of pot holes and mud with all your gear. I think it should be a new rule that you have to have a car park no more than 50 yards from the lake ( wouldn't that be good ) IF ONLY ![]()
