| Carping on... Hi everyone, I am at work but hey, who cares about that when we can talk about fishing? We went to Rushy Lane on Sunday afternoon, lovely day, very hot, got our kit out, was able to park next to our swim (big bonus) and started fishing on the surface since it was so warm we reckoned the carp should be cruising; there only seemed to be 4 ducks so we thought we could handle them; how wrong can you be? Within 30 seconds of our floats landing in the water about 50 ducks descended on us, with a commotion I have not seen since Cuckoos Rest and, basically that was it for us, not a single sign of carp anywhere, the other half of the "Carping On Society" changed to a little float with luncheon meat and caught a couple of tiny fish, I caught nothing and got really fed up (and a bit sunburnt) we even looked for them in the margins, nothing. so in conclusion, tooo many ducks!!!! there were about 30 geese too and nobody wants to argue with them, so not going there again. ![]() |

| Re: Carping on... next time take some bread and scatter it at the opposite end of the lake to where your fishing this will keep them away from you but dont throw it all over the pegs or foot paths as you dont want to annoy the bailiff /other anglers |
