Re: Why do carp jump?

I have seen carp jumping on quite a few different lakes, I have also heard diferent reasons for it, they include clearing out the gills, trying to rid a parasite from the scales, hunting insects, and shear joy. One question I have is what is the conditiion of the water. One lake where the carp hardly jumped, was having some work done, digging out of some silt by a machine. The reslut was a great deal of cloudy water, and the fish were jumping whent he water was cloudy, making me think that the water being coloured, when it was normally pretty clear caused them to jump.

Re: Why do carp jump?

Good point, Oh Asp383, the lake where they were jumping as digging work was going on is very close to you, Charts Plain, in Copthorne.

Re: Why do carp jump?

don't know charts plain, i haven't fished any waters around copthorne as i don't know what are copthorne & district angling only waters.
only still waters i've fished round here are tilgate park, which is open waters, £8.50 for full day or £4.20 half day (if the baliff comes round). other than that, usually fish the river at uckfield (further down the road) which has been known to produce a few carp time to time in certain areas

Re: Why do carp jump?

Round here it's down to the amount of bl@@dy noise people make, enough to make anyone jump :\
