newbie targeting carp and tench

hi im farely new to fishing and havent just targeted just carp and tench befor im after some advice please.

there is a small 1 acre lake local to me that i have fished quite a few times recently but only ever cought one 4lb mirror carp at the moment a few nice tench 2-3lb and hundreds of roach and few stickle backs and rudd.

the lake gets hammered every weekend ive tyed fishing in the week and in the rain dawn to dusk.

ive tryed a few baits but the only catch roach ect or nothing.

maggots and bread i get roach on
sweetcorn i get roach the odd tench and the 1 carp.
ive tryed flavoured sweetcorn and get no bites.
ive tryed 3 types of lunchen meat and the roach just atack it.
ive tryed lob worm and still can only get roach.
ive tryed 4 types of 6mm hook pellets.

ive used hemp,sweetcorn,tiger nuts and maggots as feed and once ground bait.
i have tryed floating bread and have not seen any carp on the serface.

the carp i did catch was the day i used groundbait and was mid week and i was the only one fishing.

i have even tryed the lightist line and small hooks.

i have tryed float fishing and swim feeders.


the lake is about 1 acre in sive about 3-4 foot deep with a muddy bottom.


i have seen small and big bubbles come to the serface and have fished over them and only cought roach.
i have fished in the centre of the lillies and only got roach.

i cant nite fish the lake or use boilies any thing else goes.

the bait needs tobe big enoght for the roach not to take it or that they dont like.

every one that i have spoken to use sweetcoorn.
a few friends fished the lake at night in 2007 and got alot of carp out and quite afew during the day too.

please help me

the bubbles mate try using more wieght as the roach are midway, get ur wieght to the bootom quickly and thats were the tench are

its a tricky one u have covered all the areas of bait and i would use blockend fedder with quaility ground bait and dont use water use tfg gunk blood worm good stuff get some 4mm pellets and put a bit of swwtcorn and block it of and on the hookend its hard one i would use pellets or even bollies i know they banned but just try them if not try maggots and go in the mid week WEDNESDAY casue on the weekend it will be packed and it will die down on wednesday try that

i fish on the bottom and still catch roach even on a size 8 hook and 2 pieces of sweetcorn on the feeder or float.

ive used 4mm bloodworm pellets and only get roach.

whats a good ground bait for carp?

the groundbait i used was lake with crushed hemp in and the juice from the sweetcorn.
will defo try useing tfg gunk as an adative.


would roach and rudd make bubbles?


i can pre bait the swims as it only 10mins from my house.

most of the time the big bubbles are from the tench

the tfg gunk is a little more expensive to the other addractive but worth it get bloodworm and the other ones are cheap but they are like water i promoise get tfg gunk real good thick liquid and bait wise its hard cause it seems the roach are taking everything and i would reccomed u to use big baits that would get rid of all the roach

Going to have another crack at this lake tomorrow so an early start.
Ive got some 8mm carp pellets to try and 3 diffrent flavours boilies too.

4lb mainline 2lb hooklength.

Went again the other week had 4 tench loads of roach,rudd and a 6lb carp also saw a smaller carp in the lillies. The carp and tench i had out after 6pm.

Both the carp came out at 6.30pm ish so looks like they come on the feed late afternoon.
