new at carp fishing hi evey one, I'm new to carp fishing, and just got myself 2 carp rods, and bite alarms with the dropers, I have ony tryed them twice including yesterday, the first fime I used them i didnt even get a bite, but yesterday I got four bites, but didnt get a carp in, the first time i struck hooked the carp but the line didnt come free from the ball bairings on the dropper, so by the time i sorted that out and started to reel in the carp was already off, the othe times i was unsure when to strike, so this is my question, when the alarm goes off and then stops and then off again should i strike when it is buzzing or does it matter if it stops for a split second.

Re: new at carp fishing if the alarm is oing of for more than 3 seconds and its taking line of the reel strike then. you need to set the hook as the cap has only got it in the mouth not actualy ooked so when you strike it, the hook sets. hope it helps regards ollie ><)()(0>

Re: new at carp fishing If You Want Big carp, But are Unsure To Strike, don't use Bite Alarms, let your clutch loose, let the fish take the Line, As soon as you see the tip of the rod bend, go for it, strike it. The Key To Success (: Regards, Rob.

Re: new at carp fishing I have to say i use alarms and the main reason i use them is because you can wait for a long time to catch carp so i like to wander away from the rods and chat to fellow anglers around the lake so i would not hear the fish taking line of my reel without the alarms plus i do night sessions so i need the alarms, but i suppose it's like everything in fishing it's whatever suits you.

Re: new at carp fishing im as new to this as you serious what i did was have 2 rods on boilie with a simple hair rig with squid boilie and i have 2 bit alarms with droppers and when the dropper risses and stays up and the alarm stays a constant buzz then strike and leave the rod up as if you lower it it might fall out of its mouth also make sure your hooks are sharp and you dont over complicate your rig or setup this was told to me by a old freind and its working for me not sure if this helps sorry tight lines
