| Off to a bad start....... Ok maybe I'm just becoming paranoid but in my first two sessions I've lost 5 fish........the hook comes out. and its never straight away but during playing the fish, I've checked for hook sharpness, I've tried longer and shorter hairs but it hasn't may any difference. I played one fish for over 20 mins and then suddenly ping!! its gone........it could be just some bad luck but I'm thought maybe you guys might have some ideas why and be able to suggest a solution. thanks in advance for any advice. |

| Re: Off to a bad start....... I would say as long as the hooks are ok then i would just put it down to bad luck mate. I think once you loose a couple it becomes mind over matter and you will start thinking about losing it every time you get a bite and you will let it start affecting the way you play the fish, so if i was you mate i would try to forget about the ones that got away and don't let negative thoughts enter your head. Good luck mate. |

| korda wide gape hooks Why not try korda wide gape hooks or korda wide gape b hooks ( size 6 or 8 ) I always swear by them if I go carp fishing. korda wide gape Also makes sure when you are bringing in the carp that you are dont apply to little or to much pressure as both will see the hook come out. You can set your clutch up in your back garden before you get out so its spot on. __________________ Richard|Sea Fishing |Carp Fishing| Spud Gun | Zander fishing | Fishing Reports | Hunting Reports Last edited by Fishing Forum Admin; 05-08-2009 at 02:14 PM. |

| Re: Off to a bad start....... I have used the korda wide gape hooks and to be honest i don't like them, i have lost more fish using them than i have with any of the others, but i also know people who love them so each to there own. |

| Sliding Ring Stops silicone tubing carp fishing Strange never heard of any one having issues with them but hay Have you looked at the lenght of your hair rig from hook to bait ? I use silicone tubing as you can adjust the length by sliding the up or down the hook silicone tubing Also Sliding Ring Stops are good __________________ Richard|Sea Fishing |Carp Fishing| Spud Gun | Zander fishing | Fishing Reports | Hunting Reports |

| Re: Off to a bad start....... hi i know im new to here but i thought id put my twopennenth in. hair length is important for a good hook hold from hook to bait ,and i also use a bit of tubing on the hair and set it on the bend of the hook with about 1/2 cm to 1 cm gap to boilie. also hook size to bait size makes a big difference its no good using a size 10 hook with a donkey choker bait or vice versa a good quality hook like korda wide gape is a safe bet i personally use fox i think their b2's for virtually all my fishing with a 2mm piece of tubing on the hook. if you get a bite the tubing will slide up the hook away from the bend allowing the hook to get a good hold hope this helps |

| Re: Off to a bad start....... have you tryed the fox mk 2 hooks there super sharp and strong. i lost 4 to 5 fish the other day when fishing with my mate. i was doing everything he said and keeping the rod low to the water when playing the fish. but still found i lost 4 fish ? one think i have picked up on is the rod i lost the fish on was a preston carbon active rod. which come to think of it i have lost fish on before. its abit stiff i find. where a couple of days before i was using a speedmaster rod with a softer action and didnt seam to pull out half as much. |
