1st fish of 2009 PB from Pavyotts mill

Hi just got back from my first session of 2009. Went to Pavyotts mill in Yeovil for 48hrs. Decided to fish the Maze peg 12 the wind was blowing down towards our side of the lake the sun had started to warm the water up. Not many fish had been out over the weekend, but it had only just started warming up after our last cold snap, 2 weeks ago there was quite a few 20lbers come out and a 38.10lb that was the last warm spell so it was starting to look good for us. We had quite a warm day with fish moving all around our swim and even topping over our bait but not a bite,

i was fishing on a shelf by the island in about 6ft of water cc moores meteor popup was the chosen bait. Not a bite for Sunday or Monday

fish were moving all around but we had a frost that stopped all sightings of fish. Monday night was very mild we sat outside till 1am before calling it anight. 4.30am my alarms went wild as the fish screamed off, but when reeling him in he came straight to the net with no hassle he went 38.8lb a new PB the second in four visits to the lake last one being 31.8lb.

The fish was last caught in august 08 at 33lb and was put in the lake 15 months ago at 27lb so he has been eating well. I wish i could get back down there soon, as i know its going to go mad.
