Re: help me please

i'm sure your not the only one to make that mistake, won't be the last.

it really depends on what size fish your going for, pop into your local shop, alot of owners will be more than helpful because they'll want your custom.

If youve just got a set from argos im guessing your a begginer (sorry if that comes across as an insult, its really not meant to be), so the only real advice is to not get sold into all the expensive jazz, i picked up a 2.5lb test curve carp rod with baitrunner reel from my local shop (can't remember make because all my gear is 100 miles away at the moment) for 30quid and its perfect for me. I usually fish for 10-20lb carp, hoping to bag my first 30 this summer and im sure the rod is more than capable.

best of luck.

Re: help me please

Hi, if you look on ebay or go to your local tackle shop and see something you like, post on here the name and make and i am certain that someone will have an idea on the rod.

Hope this helps.

oh 1 more thing, this is a mater of opinion, but avoid the following rods. keenets, kingfisher, and be careful with dragon rods. good rods are as following, shimano, chub, wychwood,fox,drennan and maver, basically i would stick to the major manafactures for rods, most of these companies will give a great aftercare.

Re: help me please

I'd certainly buy a shimano or fox rod if your budget can stand it....otherwise you can get starter kits from here;

Obviously you get what you pay for but carp fishing is expensive but if you can start with the basics, see how you get on and then upgrade your gear as and when you can...there's always birthdays, christmas etc. lol

Re: help me please

Is most of your fishing short range? 50-75 meter? if yes then 2.5/ 2.75lbs test curve will be ok. if its mixed then I'd go for a 3.25 lbs test curve both Fox & Shimano still have a good action with this test curve which is important when playing fish close in.......I've had my rods for a while now and only spent around £70 on each, I think they're around £50 now.

If you stick with Fox or Shimano and get one within your budget you're be well pleased!
