New carp/tench lake nr tewkesbury

Hi I sold my old baitboat yesterday and the guy had just been to look at a lake and said it has just been open to the public on 1st August. I first looked at this lake about 15 years ago and was told it was private fishing with a good head of big carp/tench so Im very excited to fish it but will have to wait a couple of weeks. I will try and get some more info unless anybody else knows more about it in this area? Its called Strensham court.

Re: New carp/tench lake nr tewkesbury

I've driven past a cracking looking lake on the left hand side of the road just before Frampton on Severn. Do you know anything about it Richard. i.e. Are day tickets available.

Re: New carp/tench lake nr tewkesbury

Had a drive out to look at lake today very nice lake with a lot of features. The owner has had the lake for 10 years and has only just decided to open it to public. It looks like you could only fish the 1 bank as rest of lake was overgrown, he has cut alot of the brambles back and has alot more to do to gain access to the rest of lake. The banks are very muddy and quite high for landing fish, but he only started clearing the banks aweek ago. Alot of people have fished it already with a few fish coming out. I think it will be a place to fish next year when its sorted out as long as he does what he says he's going todo. I might give in in a week or so, so will keep you posted.

Re: New carp/tench lake nr tewkesbury

Hi All

Fished this lake Wednesday evening or may have been Thursday.

Lovely looking lake but its only 2 feet deep and very silty. Although i did not plumb the bottom end. I got setup at around 9pm and had 12 fish by midnight. Reeled in to sleep and recast at 5 am. Had another 5 - 8 by 8am packed up and went to work.

Tried pva bag's and the method. PVA bag (Stick mix) and stringers worked best and they love pellet. Never had anything over 10lb. The guy said he has had them to 22lb. Can't see that as the lake is so shallow and rammed with fish. You can shut your eyes and cast out anywhere you will catch.

Good for a bend in the rod and to try out new rigs. They will eat anything so bait is not an issue.

They are all like new pennies and have never seen a hook before. Maybe there are a few bigger fish in there but never had any. Two lads fishing further down had around 40 fish over a couple of days again all of similar size.

Good luck

Kev

Re: New carp/tench lake nr tewkesbury

I did 24 hours there on 2nd August, had 25 Carp out, all approx 5lb to 11lb, I have just got back from another 2 night session at Strensham, Its good fishing, biggest I had was 11lb but im told there is at least late twenties in there, the lake is apparently 70 years old and was hand dug in the 1930s. Its very, very silty and only about 4 feet deep with another 3foot of silt. The owner is a good bloke and and the bayliff Darren is sound as a pound. It is £15 for 24 hrs which aint bad, check any local tackle shops for leaflets with contact info....
