It Depends mate ,On if you want to keep spending 50 odd pounds or more every times it rains on new alarms or not , Lots of the cheaper alarm systems do not like working in the rain

Re: bite alarms

I have had a set of the Daiwa Sundridge alarms for several months now and they work great. The range on the receiver is much more than you should use. I have had bites register well over 200 yds and had to get my mate to land the fish because I'm old and over weight and the fish would have been and gone by the time I had got to the rods! The only fault I can find with them is that the illuminated drop-off is only attached to the alarm by the wire and can pull it's self out when you strike. Not a problem when you have the bank sticks on dry land but I often fish with the front stick in the water and wouldn't want the bobbin to get wet. The way around it I use is to trap the wire to the stick with an elastic band. The bobbins do take apart and I suppose I could attach a chain if I could find one to fit! Sorry for the long winded reply but they are worth the money! I got mine of ebay for £65 inc p+p.
