Re: crucian carp welcome to the forum ethan, the best on the net by far.I have always found crucians to be difficult to catch,my best method is to go fine,2lb line 1 grain of corn on a size 14 hook.i set with the bait just on bottom and the float shotted right down,it may not be the method the experts use,but it has worked for me,best of luck mate.

Re: crucian carp crucians are a hard species to catch, and tend to live off small invertebraes and bloodworms etc.. so give finickity bites, paul has mentiod a good method, either fishing on bottom or just off the bottom, 1 or 2 maggots, worms, corn are all good baits, i have also caught them fishing only 1ft deep, keep trying __________________ Dan `·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸ Big or small, look after them all! ¸.·´¯`·.¸ ><((((º>

Re: crucian carp Fish fine , up against the lillies with corn maggot or pellet and dont forget the early shift and late evening are the best time. If you have a good compost heap chopped worm is worth a try and could produce a bonus fish or two. Finely chop about 20 worms then put them in the area you are going to fish, then fish a piece of worm about 1" long on a size 16 or 18 hook. Good luck :)

Re: crucian carp do crucians feed in the same way as other carp,ie tight to bottom ? near features, open water etc as been trying for last 4-5 sessions on dark side for one of these in a lake stocked with them, been trying the very light line 1 or 2 lb with size 16 hook maggot or corn & bait shot too bottom with small float, keep getting roach or more scarily mirrors (which is fun on such light gear) any more advise taken as want points ;-) __________________ www.exmouthsaa.co.uk 24 beers in a case and 24 hours in a day simples You won't know unless you go...and if you do go please let us know :D
