how do and how should i fish this i spent the night at my local lake last night.. and late yesterday afternoon i noticed a big fizz of bubbles come up and travel 5-10ft across the surface then dissapear as the evening drew on i noticed this was happening in several places all over the lake! (hmmm maybe i shouldnt be fishing in the margins!) so i moved one rod out into deeper water but still no bites and still this fizzing up of bubbles for 10-15 secs then it would reappear 20ft away and start again the be all and end all of this story is i didnt get a single carp all 24 hrs i was there.. but with all these bubbles it got me thinking it must of been carp scratching around on the bottom for something and i dont know what!! maybe bloodworm? (i did try bloodworm boilies with no luck) i just wondered if anyone else has experienced this and has any tips/ideas? __________________ fishing for fish is not as simple as you may think!

Re: how do and how should i fish this What I would do Dave, is try and remember where the fish were feeding (possibly tench as well as carp) and run a feature finding lead and marker float through your swim to see what the lake bottom is like. If they're feeding on a hard spot, bait the spot up and place your hookbait over the top. Just try and find the likely feeding spots, sure you already know this anyway. ![]() __________________ Dan `·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸ Big or small, look after them all! ¸.·´¯`·.¸ ><((((º>

Re: how do and how should i fish this thanks dan!... no i have never looked for features as the lake i fish is only 1 acre and usually i fish the margins which tend to be very productive! however last night i was beaten and like i say all across the lake was these bubbles.. it couldnt of been tench there is none in the lake!.. the lake consists of roach and carp basically with the odd big eel (someone had a 7lb'er here last week!) as for rigs richard it was just a bog standard running leger with a hair rig.. again because nobody has really taken me out and shown me any better so its all knowledge of the lake i have built on my own senses but something tells me these bubbles indicate a fishing frenzy and i should have taken advantage hence the question! __________________ fishing for fish is not as simple as you may think!

| Re: how do and how should i fish this Im a firm believer in safty zones which is a clear area around your bait of about 4 foot now you can do this with lead tubing with a little knot to stop it going up your line or a lenght of leadcore. You will have to make sure to fish you main line slake ish so that it can rest on the bed. Or try a chod rig mate cost about £4 for three but you must use stiff rig line to tie the short hook length of about 4 inches By having a safty zone the carp cannot bo spooked by anything around the bait . If your lake is well fished the try chopping up your boilies and putting the on your hair rig as they might be very spooked by the normal round bait. Or try Solar Pure Baits wedges as they are different and do work. Also on your hair rig change the lenght of the hair loop as and even the rig length itsself the rule of thumb is 6 - 8 inches but 3 inches might work or it might be the other way round on need 12 inches. Something I always do as as soon as my rig hits the bottom I pull it along about a foot as this help straighten everything out and you bait is not sitting on your lead. __________________ Richard|Sea Fishing |Carp Fishing| Spud Gun | Zander fishing | Fishing Reports | Hunting Reports |

Re: how do and how should i fish this great rich i will try those things thankyou when i started with alarms and leger rigs i just got shown how to do a knotless knot and away i went really.. never looked into anything else.. noticed some guys using putty? and pop-ups i think.. maybe they are just floating the bait above the weed/silt or whatever i dunno but with some experiments i will find out! __________________ fishing for fish is not as simple as you may think!

Re: how do and how should i fish this yes very true biggun.. but when im carp fishing i like to be left alone in my own wilderness.. and so treat other anglers around me with the same respect.. i could however question the baliff still unsure as to what all those bubbles were but im slowly talking myself into the fact it must of been bloodworm trouble is there is so many roach in this lake that putting a nice bed of bait out at any distance gets hammered by the things..which is why i have always favoured the margins i will go next week though and see what i can work out! __________________ fishing for fish is not as simple as you may think!

Re: how do and how should i fish this Sounds daft dave the bubbles can be natural gasses coming up from the bottom. tj __________________ Big or Small ill catch them all!!!
