Carp fishing bait and rig change Tirley Court

Carp fishing bait and rig change Tirley Court

Well after my last trip to Tirley Court I did some thinking about my carp rigs and bait for this venue. After two days of messing around with lengths of hairs baits hook links and what to do about making the perfect safety zone ( area around the bait making sure the carp is not spooked or knocks into mainline no matter what angle the come from ) I finally settled on the newly named `Cosgrif` rig.

So the night before made up my crushed hemp feeds recipe and let it all soak in over night in the fridge.

Choose two location to hit as they looked carp hang outs and the baits hit the water at about 8am

Mark 1

Mark 2

Well it was not long before the first run and I hit it but it bounce off . Dam I thought I hope the rig is not at fault !!

Rod just waiting for the carp

PVA Bag just to get the sent in the area

Any how to cut a long store short after 4hrs I had landed 11 carp from 10lb to 15lb and was absolutely knackered and just had to pack up as the all back was not in a good place. But if I had carried on I recon would have hit 2o plus carp for the day. As the saying goes “ you’ve stepped in something lucky “

One of the carp ( must get this timer thing sussed )

Well chuffed my rigs worked and the feeder bait got them homed in and staying around till they hit the hook bait. Tirley court is not a hard lake but in the time I was there only two other carp had been landed so was a little chuffed with myself

Now need to get the 15lb plus carp more interested although there is not many in there but if there is I will get it LOL.

If you think about your water and prep for it you will always do better than everyone else. Just a shame every water is not the same but that’s the fun part of fishing.

Re: Carp fishing bait and rig change Tirley Court

good fishing richard, nice to see someone who likes to rise to a challenge and think things out.

I have been struggling to catch some nice carp that spend all their time in a weedbed about 30 yards cast away. the only way to fish for them without getting snagged is using a floating bait, preferably bread, as there are lots of ducks who get fed by the caravanners so they're used to it. Problem is the casting distance. i tried using a controller float but the spalsh of it landing just spooked the fish every time. i was begininng to think I was stumped, then PING! I attached a PVA string of 6 more peices of bread crust to the hook bend. the combined wieght allowed me to cast and the splash wasn't nearly as significant as the float had been, withing 2 or 3 mins the fish were setteld again and by that time the PVA had dissolved and i had a nice scattering of loose bait near the hook - result is that I have now taken 4 fish on 3 different trips from this tricky spot, none of them massive, but very rewarding!! as hanibal from the A-team used to say 'I love it when a plan comes together" keep up the good work!

Glad to hear you're wetting a line again mate. Sounds like good therapy to me. Well done on an impressive bag of carp.
