Tirley Court carp fishing Gloucestershire

Tirley Court carp fishing

Well with cabin fever set in big time and missing out on the France trip I just had to get out and do some carp fishing.

So with a very poor back I was recommended Tirley Court which has three lakes. The first two lakes are pure match lakes singles can go but ring up before hand to check. Weights are are 100lb to 300lb of mixed fish. So its a lake for the power poles ect.

Well as I was after a carp I hit the main Specimen pool with carp up to 25lb. So as a quick overview from the carp side the lakes has 4 islands with the carp from 6 - 25lb its not an hard lake but a bit of knowledge will help. Disable anglers can fish here which is great news.

No Night fishing and £6.00 for the day fishing 6am till 8.30pm and during the weekend it is full at 6am when it opens !! No boilies pellet and the list goes on plus you must dip your landing nets and carp mats before you start fishing . OH you must have a carp mat or you leave.

So the fishing I here you say !!

One rod right in tight against a will tree fishing pop up corn( pva bag was corn and sweet corn )

Second fished to an Island fished halibut ( pva bag of cruched hemp and chopped pellets )

Third was fishing to bar on squid / octopus ( pva crush hemp chopped pellets and big shot enhancer )

The rigs were all the same 6 korda wide gape hook on 4 to 6 inch braid ( found a bit of putty in the middle of the hook length got to bites ) - 3oz lead on safety clip with 4 foot off anchor rig tubing ( I like safety zones )

The fishing was slow at fish but as was new to this water I spend quiet sometime tuning the rigs and have a bit of a play. During the week day the lake is quiet ish with on three anglers who fished. So once sorted on happy that my rigs were just right I sat down to fish ! There has been loads of rain and the lake was high but I did not care as I needed to fish.

With all my faffing around with the rigs I got one run which I bumped!! But then about 3pm it all started and ended up with 4 carp from 10 to 13lb which was great fun but by f==k near killed the back so not going to France was a very good decision.

The only bait not to catch was the mega corn with pop ups but I did get two runs so......

The water is a great mid week place to fish and follow the rules and you will have a nice days fishing.

So four carp on happy but nearly dead angler with loads more ideas to get some more carp
