Re: Whats the best boilies

One thing to remember is carp fishing has changed over the years and the introduction of high protein baits like boilies has accounted for some incredible catches. This type of bait has some great advantages, they are used on a hair rig so can be cast 150 yards and never come off, try doing that with bread!. Carp love boilies and will easily hoover up 100 of them in a short period of time.

if and when i use boillies cant go wrong with mainlines, cell!
lake im fishing at the mo (and its a bashing lake) dont mater what i fish,u name it ther on it!
but be happy to take a bag of mainline cell anywere and be confident in a bite! small pva of crushed and whole boillies, fished over a bed of particles and crshed bollies just to get things moving seems to be the ticket,
ther not cheap but your getting what you pay for!

Re: Whats the best boilies

Hi Richard this might be of some use to you, i have just made a batch of boilies ( about 5 -6 kg ) for about £1. i went out with them yesterday and they worked pretty well. I was pulling out commons, mirrors, F1s and a few roach, pretty good nite all in all i think i pulled out 7 (weight was 45lb 6oz) and i was only there 4 and half hours , so i will let you have this recipe as i have many more that work well and more to come. Plain flour, semolina, sensas method mix strawberry flavour, olive oil out of a jar of anchovys, crushed hemp ( very well crushed ), eggs, and some red food colour. powders and liquids are to be prepared in different tubs. First measure out your powders and pour in to mixing bowl add hemp and oil and mix very well next add your whisked eggs slowly they will have your colouring in so should be red or purple. when its has been bind together it should be soft bit not sticky. roll in to a sausage. tear a chunck off and roll into an even smaller sausage about 6mm 0r 8mm thick cut off little bits and roll in to a ball, boil for 3 mins, dry out and put in your freezer. hope this helps.....

Re: Whats the best boilies

love to make my own but its the rolling table, the mastic gun thing, the smell, the colouring all over the kitchen
and the general fiddle arsing about that puts me off, used to do it not good!
spose be worth it if a few of you got together and clubbed in, spare garage, old cooker and freezer
(I,R,A bomber club style) then made stacks, air dried em and hit a water with a propper baiting campaign,
thats the only way i could justify it
do make a mean paste tho halibut pellet, go cat biscuits and crushed hemp, liquid halibut, seasame oil, spose i only need to add a few eggs and roll into 100,s of balls and boil and im ther, to much hassle and why would i want to put a skin on all that flavour or make it a ball?!
