Re: Trout Pellets ???

I use trout pellets for carp tench and bream

Find the smaller ones 5mm are good for tench and bream as it gets the heads down and eating ( maggots or ground bait seem not to hold the peg so well )

As for carp I use large trout pellets 1 inchers as this means the small fish cannot eat them and can be cat.. to distance

Halibut seem to be doing the job and also have taken carp on trout pellet paste

Use trout pellet floater in the summer on a surface rig and they are great where I fish

As for trout pellets themselves I always get good ones as sometimes the cheap type have very little smell and thier texture is poor ( do not by pellets from open sacks in the tackle shop as odds on they will be stale )

Oh keep your pellets in an air tight container as this seems to keep them better

just my 2 cents and Im sure others will chip in

Re: Trout Pellets ???

Trout, halibut pellets will work better in summmer, because the oil content leakes out more, where as in winter they barely leak, if at all...

I prefer to use betaine pellets around winter time.

And Welcome to the forum

Re: Trout Pellets ???

Never tried it mate, I like the new Dynamite baits birdfood and fishmeal boilies. I'm getting out tomorrow to test them, can't wait

I don't really use groundbait or loosefeed these days, just crushed boilies in a pva bag if anything..

Re: Trout Pellets ???

I got some pineapple plus today, hopefully will be ok, I had plenty of runs on the Strawberry and Ice Cream

I'm not sure whether the fish find it quicker, but I very rarely use anything other than single hookbait, and still manage to catch plenty. If I do use pva bags, crushed boilies, halved boilies, few whole 1's and maybe some pellet is all that will go in.
