Ground bait mix

I went a bit mad in the garage mixing my ground bait for tommorrows fishing and it made me think, is there any science to it or is it just about mixing something and hope it works on the day.

i mixed, crushed strawberry boilies, strawberry soaked sweetcorn, powder packet carp ground bait mix, cumin seed, hot chilli powder, crushed halibut pelets. actually smells pretty good!

its funny you should say that cos Ive just done the same for tomorrow, I used sweetcorn, micro trout pellets, hemp based groundbait, salt,paprika and olive oil. I always try and include something I will use as a hookbait which in this case is boilie with a sweetcorn topper or maybe corn on its own

lol, didn't bloody work anyway. total blank today, i had lots of bites and a couple of dropped runs but not one bloody fish. i did catch sunburn though..

same as lol red arms and neck, I forgot my sunglasses too so had to drive 10 mile to a local boots and pay 15 quid for a pair and then to top it off I got a half price sunglasses voucher with the glasses id just paid full price for

I fished today with a combo of ground up robin red carp pellets, 1 toners feed (bolton based company), corn meal, semolina and another ground ingredient but would like to keep that secret (don't worry it's nothing that would harm the fish).
After 6 sessions of blanks, I finally caught my 1st fish which was a 2.5lbs bream on the method and had a robin red pellet and pop-up on the hair, also caught a 4.5lbs bream too and would have probably caught more if I could have stayed for longer.
I personally think that a ground bait mix is all about finding the right balance of flavour for the water and species you are fishing for, the above mix was the 1st successful mix I have made myself and I hope to catch on it again tomorrow.
