Vitalin

Evening all,

Does anyone use vitalin? If so what type? The only one I can find is the dog food type...I've also found a few threads saying that it doesn't need to be soaked, is this correct?

Thanks
Hewy

Re: Vitalin

I've used original in the past but TBH not really had that much joy with it. Yep – it’s a muesli Dog food. I've always prepared it buy pouring boiling water over it in a bucket and leaving for a few hours. It’s very glutinous and sticks like s**t to a blanket.

Now I just use it at about 5/10% with scalded pellet mix. It helps it bind better for moulding around a feeder or lead.

I think you will find your cheapest source is Staytes (Next to Kingsholm Rugby) They also sell pellets and every pulse and seed you can think of.

Thanks for the reply...

"It’s very glutinous and sticks like s**t to a blanket." Thats the main reason I wanted to use vitalin, I need it to bind my mix together for prebaiting.

I'll pop to Staytes tomorrow see if I can pick some up, what sort of price we talking for 25kg?

Re: Vitalin

I'll be using it on the river and canal mate...already got the molasses ;). After I got this I'm pretty much set for the canal pre-baiting to commence...Hopefully its as successful as last season, just hope it warms up soon...

Re: Vitalin

I think Staytes do molasses as well and a limited range of boilies.

Just a warning re their Boilies - Staytes don't have the turn over and the shelf lifers they sell are like bullets. Buy fresh from your local tackle shop

Interestingly my local pet shop said that Vitalin isn't as popular as it was so let me have their last big bag for a tenner. If Staytes haven't got any (or an alternative - just ask they are very helpful) then you've always got Countrywide Stores at Westgate.

Agree with Nick - go easy with it.

Hope you have more joy than I ever did
