Re: boilie size I've used up to 38mm, don't think sizes above 24mm would work very well over here unless you,be got a lake full of 40lb+ carp and catfish...however fish a pretty greedy, I caught a 6lb bream on a double 15mm hookbait with a inch of lime between the hook and bait last year...I'm sure a 50mm bait would catch you some beautiful moorhens at tirley! Greedy b*****ds! Hewy __________________ www.thecarpden.co.uk

Re: boilie size There is no point in having a huge bait like that... As you mentioned big carp take smaller baits. If the fish arent on small baits change colour or depth.. there is many variations to it its unbelievable biggest bait 20mm

Re: boilie size so using for eg 25mm baits will not catch fish then ?

Re: boilie size Nah but instead of rollling a 25mm id rather roll two 12mm.. Just a waste of mix.. rather put two baits out than 1! You have more options with two boilies than 1. Plus you'll find a bigger bait, weigh's more which is harder for the fish to suck and blow. Unless you drill and cork it. Which seems like a waste of material when you could use a smaller hookbait and top it off with alien corn.

Re: boilie size When I fished for Carp I had 12mm,14mm,16mm,18mm,,20mm and 24mm baits made for me ( normally 50 kilo at a time ) ,I would always pre bait in the close season with a mixture of all these sizes ( also when fishing ) so the fish never get used to picking up one size bait.Using the same size baits and the fish will soon notice one ( your hook bait ) that doesn't fell or act in the same way as the freebies. ![]() __________________ http://www.thaivisanews.com

Re: boilie size I don't think the size always matters. I always cut my boilies down to weird shapes as the carp are used to seeing round baits. Ive found the bigger carp will take a smaller bait as they are more likely to see this as a freebie. The only true way is to try. Doing somethng completely different to the norm could also work in your favour. tj
