Re: What should i be useing in my spod ?

Particles . boilies chopped and whole, tuna , sweet corn, worms ,maggots

pellets the list is endless

This is how i prepare my particles

PREPARING PARTICLE BAITS
If you are going to use particles as bait, it is essential that you prepare them correctly.
Unprepared or incorrectly prepared particle baits can injure and kill fish. This is why many waters have banned them.
Particles are cheap and effective, I strongly recommend you try them.
Here are some guidelines for preparing your bait.

Adzuki Beans
Pre-Soak beans for 14 hours – then bring to boil and simmer for 30 minutes

Blackeye Beans
Pre-Soak beans for 14 hours – then bring to boil and simmer for 30 minutes

Buckwheat
Pre-Soak beans for 14 hours – then bring to boil and simmer until they split

Chick Peas
Pre-Soak beans for 14 hours – then bring to boil and simmer for 30 minutes

Haricot Beans
Pre-Soak beans for 14 hours – then bring to boil and simmer for 30 minutes

Hemp
Pre-Soak beans for 14 hours – then bring to boil and simmer until they split

Lima Beans
Pre-Soak beans for 14 hours – then bring to boil and simmer for 30 minutes

Maize
Pre-Soak beans for 24 hours – then bring to boil and simmer for 30 minutes

Maple Peas
Pre-Soak beans for 14 hours – then bring to boil and simmer for 30 minutes

Peanuts
Pre-Soak beans for 14 hours – then bring to boil and simmer for 30 minutes
A bait that i dislike to use , Also they are banned on a lot of lakes

Pinto Beans
Pre-Soak beans for 14 hours – then bring to boil and simmer for 30 minutes

Red Kidney Beans
Pre-Soak beans for 14 hours – then bring to boil and simmer for 30 minutes

Tares
Pre-Soak beans for 14 hours – then bring to boil and simmer for 30 minutes

Tiger Nuts
Pre-Soak beans for 24 hours – then bring to boil and simmer for 30 minutes
These are my all time particle and have produced fish upto 35lb for me

Wheat
Pre-Soak beans for 14 hours – then bring to boil and simmer for 30 minutes.

A very cheap particle is pigeon conditioner corn - just soak for about 10 mins in hot water ,or cover and leave in a bucket overnight

Re: What should i be useing in my spod ?

Dont forget safety.!!

Use a suitable rod of 3lb or more for a standard full spod

Use a strong suitable reel

Use 15 lb line or braid is better but remember to cast a couple of times empty first and wet the line before casting a loaded spod

Use shock leader if you are sending the spod 60 yards plus out 30lb should be suffice

Re: What should i be useing in my spod ?

Go carefull not to over feed the swim.
I only use a small spod on a carp rod and only use it on runs water that are 10+ acers.

If ur useing braid wet the spool line and rod rings also wear a finger stool.
