hi adam there are lots of good quality baits on the market now . nutrabaits ,mainline ,sticky baits etc etc, a good all round bait for all 4 seasons trigga by nutrabaits. personnally i prefer sticky baits crab and glm (green lipped mussel)however bfm and pineapple by nutrabaits is a quality bait although not perfect for really cold months but a few people swear by bfm right through, please dont dismiss maize it has caught many big carp, whatever you use at this time of year you wont need to pile it in ,location is the key so find the fish first.
Tight lines and good luck

Re: Can anyone tell me what the best baits are to catch Carp?

As mentioned before location. Over the years luncheon meat and worms along with swet corn have worked very well, but they will also bring other fish to the bank. This in my view is a bonus, as some days the carp don't play ball.
When it comes to boilies, there are many out there, with solar, richworth mainline making some very good nes.
I'd say avoid fishmeal based flavours in winter, prefering fruits, and try the fish meals in the summer. Hopefully a local tackle dealer can advise you on what the fish in your local waters take, its in his interest to give you good advice.
Some carp characters will give you bad advice, sadly this does happen, only once in my experience, but said person did it put me and others off, I think he had an ego problem.

You can always surface fish for carp as well. More of a summer thing tho. Bread, dog biscuit, pop up bright boilie. Alot depends onthe rules of the lake. I have always done well with marine hallibut pellet or anything strawbery.
