Re: Making your own boilies

Can you get lug and peeler scents?
I can't see bass or cod going for bubblegum or pineapple flavour! There're the scents that carp anglers use, aren't they?

Re: Making your own boilies

What do you fish for with these? Just carp? Have you ever tried using corn for carp? it works well and is alot less work; just open the can. I could see these boiled things working well for large cats if you could get the scents right.

Re: Making your own boilies

Over here, they're mainly used for carp. Chub, barbel and cats will also take them.

Corn is a good bait over here, although I never have much luck on it

Re: Making your own boilies

With corn you need to take a can with you and use it as chum before you fish the area and then it might work well for you. But maybe the fish don't see it often enough to reconize it as food.
I do have an idea for a scent for your boilies though that someone should try. I cant do it because I am alergic, but if I could I would use iodine. The reason I say this is that I am also alergic to shell fish because they have a really high content of it in them. I am willing to bet that any fish that likes shellfish would snach up boilies scented with iodine. If anyone trys it please let me know if it works.

Re: Making your own boilies

Hello,

Just be careful not to make the boilies to dry as they can turn rock hard.

Thank You

Thumbs up Re: Making your own boilies

I've tried making boilies,(don't sell them here) but my rec-p was alot simpler. Just corn meal and egg. Break an egg or 2 and slowly mix in corn meal till pasty/dry enough to make balls and boil for 20 minutes. Worked great, except they kept stealing the bait off a hair rig. Next time I'll try just impaling them on a hook.

Re: Making your own boilies

Thanks! I've just finished making mine, I multiplied the amount of mixture by 1.5 (i.e 4 eggs = 6 eggs) and a managed to make 111! However they were a bit on the large side! Thanks again!
