Re: Slugs as a Carp bait

The best cheese paste is made using frozen puff pastry thats grated & mixed with Danish Blue cheese. This stuff smells a bit rare but is great for chub, use a size 6 or 4 hook.

Re: Slugs as a Carp bait

How, exactly are you loosing hooks? How good are your knots.....look there 1st?
Palomar knots ( http://www.animatedknots.com/palomar...matedknots.com ) are easy, quick and retain a good %age of line strength.
Trilene knots ( http://www.animatedknots.com/trilene...matedknots.com ) might be better, you might call it a double surgeons knot.

Re: Slugs as a Carp bait

just jumped in the post! probly saying somthing sombody has already said,
slugs forget it!
too slimey too hard to hook, ok for chub on one day in 200 dont bother.
if you wont a cheap confidence bait good old lob (garden) worm
failing that cheese paste but the ultimate killer is sweetcorn and half a lob!

this will probly get a cussing from some, fill a bucket of water add a good dash of
detergent ! slap it on the lawn and watch the buggers appear before your eyes,
no damage to the lawn, give them a good rince and the mighty lob worm is good to go!
(if you can get some brick dust stick them in that between wet newspaper,
turns them a good red colour and tuffs them up) tench and carp love it

suprise my self with some of the random fishing stuff i picked up!
should get out more and socialise?

geffski's right! They're called "night crawlers" here, and there's nothing (here) that hasn't been caught on'em!
