Solar Baits

I bought some of the new (so im told) Solar Tackle Perfect Baits. They are Japanese squid and octopus koi rearer. A smallish triangular shaped boilie.

I did get my PB on them within 15 minutes of having my rods in the water but everytime I reeled in after that there was no bat on the hair.

I dont know it it was coming off when I was retrieving it or whether it was coming off while it was out.

Just wondered if anybody else has tried them and how they got on with them.

Thanks

Mick

Re: Solar Baits

when i first saw the triangle baits (wedges ) by solar i was very interested as the wedge shape would be good as it not a shape that carp would have come across and would readily take them as they also seem to be a good food source being made with solars unique h20 binding which means no need for eggs and preservatives which will allow the flavour leakage to be at there best

now i sadly not got round to using wedges but if they perform like there pops up have done for me then they should do you well .
now as for coming off the hair i,ve only come across this once when i was testing ocp liver boilies for tails up a few years back and like yourself nearly every time i reeled in the bait had come off this was due to the baits being soft and would pull off when reeling in if the bait was out for long periods
again it was easy for me to get over this as a quick call to the manufacturer and the bait texture was change and the baits were harden up .
now if i was you i would first check you are not splitting the wedges when attaching to the hair .
also look at the hair stops you are to small and the bait could pull off
when casting out watch the bait into the water to make sure its not coming off on the cast then when you reeling bring it back gently to see if its still attach as if you reel in quickly this could be why its pulling off and on the point of reeling in the slower and steadier you go with out it breaking the surface you will cause less disturbance which could be the difference between catching a new pb and blanking

and there a quite alot i have not tried ian

tightlines

Re: Solar Baits

Thanks for that Kevin.
They are different and that can only be a good thing. The bait wasnt splitting with the needle and the stop I used was a V stop so that shouldnt have been the problem. It might as you say be the resistance when retrieving it back through the water.
I will persevere though as it did get me my PB within 15 minutes of casting out....lol
