Lake Erie trolling. Hit Port Bruce again yesterday. Fishing was generally slow for most people but some were reporting good catches. For quite a while it seemed like I couldn't but a fish if I wanted to. Threw almost everything in the box at them with all different types of presentations. Managed 3 walleye & a rainbow for the day. Here's my best walleye (25 1/2") & the rainbow (23"). ![]() __________________ Living proof that "Beer builds better bellies" Bought & paid for many times over

Cracking bag of fish Woodsman. Those Walleye look very similar to the Zander we catch over here. I do wonder if they are the same species? __________________ Don't Judge My Path If You Haven't Walked My Journey...

Re: Lake Erie trolling. I believe zander & walleye are closely related. I know walleye are among the best eating fish there is. __________________ Living proof that "Beer builds better bellies" Bought & paid for many times over

Re: Lake Erie trolling. Walleye and sauger that we have over here are from the same genus (Sander) as the zander you guys catch. They're two separate species from your zander, but they are closely-enough related that when zander were illegally introduced into areas in the northern US in the '70s they hybridized with walleye, which are also able to hybridize with sauger. We also once had a third species called the blue walleye that has been extinct for several decades. Again, that species was a member of the genus Sander. __________________ 2012 species: 13 All-time species: 65 New species caught in 2012: white sucker, popeye shiner, white shiner
