| Lake Erie 04 Sep 09 Well the weather has been much better the last few days and myself and a couple buddies got out for a day of fishing on Lake Erie today. We headed out about 8 miles to 55 fow and started trolling heading out to 70 fow. We only managed to catch sheephead (freshwater drum) some up to almost 10 lbs and one decent white bass. We pulled up the lines and moved about 5 miles further east in 72 fow and started to mark more bait and fish on the depthfinder. Dropping the lines fishing wasn't great but was an improvement. We managed to land 3 rainbow trout and lost a few more. I lost a very large fish that wouldn't let me bring it in, eventually straightening out the split ring on my lure and stealing my treble hook. | Re: Lake Erie 04 Sep 09 Ice fishing generally starts in January. Usually compared to you's are summers are hotter and winters colder. This summer has been unusually wet & cool. Yesterday was great at 25C and sunny with highs forecast for the next week predicted at between 25C - 27C and mostly sunny.
