Re: Conger trip 150 to 250lb trace line, 8/0 or 10/0 hook, strong swivel for baits theres loads of choice... a fresh mackerel flapper is always my number 1 choice, squid, cuttlefish, herring, pouting (normaly takes longer to get a bite but gets the bigger eels), mullet, pollack, garfish etc etc Try spraying your bait with wd40 aswel if bites are slow __________________ New site! sea fishing devon

Re: Conger trip Hi Lee, I caught my 100lb+ Conger on a 80lb homemade coated wire trace (Veals). Wire traces are a lot easier to handle than 150 - 250lb mono ones. Perhaps someone can inform us as to why "not to use wire traces"? Regards Drew __________________ All that Glitters is not Gold

Re: Conger trip Good luck guys, make sure J is taking his pills before getting on the boat lol or he'll be feeding the conger a bait they don't like.....you should be alright to catch one Lee....I'm not there lmao ![]() __________________ There is certainly something in angling that tends to produce a serenity of the mind." - Washington Irving

Re: Conger trip Would never use wire traces, mono is much easier and cheaper (cheap wire snaps easy) Plus as dan guessed if the crimps arent done tight enough or anythin then you will loose fish, would never trust crimps for a conger trace __________________ New site! sea fishing devon

| Re: Conger trip i think its something to to with bait presentation and the way it flaps about in the tide...and id say 150lb mono trace, 8/0-10/0 hook and a niec smelly mackerel flapper with about a pound of lead hanging nicely just next to a wreck! __________________ "Alright Jack, we all ready to fish?"
