Interesting to see there's still hounds and tope around. We had a few hardbacks with us on friday but didn't get round to sending them for a swim.

hi steve
all the hounds and the tope were caught on squid as they were trying for an early cod.give me a shout on here as we usually bunk off work and go down to the compound most days if you want to know about the slipway
regards karl

When I was about your age, I was taken out off Redcar on one of the local cobbles that launched from the beach in those days (they still there?). We caught a whiting and a codling between five of us Didn't put me off though. My old boat's not far from you in fact, she went to a guy in Hartlepool who's already had some nice bass from her.
Best advice would be to save up a bit and try a few charter trips. There's the JFK out of Hartlepool and plenty of boats from Whitby. Look in the back of Sea Dangler or BFM. They fish inshore using light gear a lot these days, much easier than the old day's of pirks and broomhandles 40 miles off.
