I have a lot of respect for Graeme, have quite a few of his books from years ago, but he does have a bit of a reputation for exagerating the size of big fish, especially sharks.

If you look at the photo closely, the porbeagle is big, but definetly no more than 300lbs.

Re: Big Shark, Small Boat....

Ye if you look at his forearm (about 1 foot in length) compared to the sharks length, its 5 foot in length maximum, it does have a big girth though, obviously a pregnant female.

Re: Big Shark, Small Boat....

Female porbeagle sharks are nearly twice the size of the males.

Porbeagles give birth to fairly large babies 20lb+, and they can have up to five.

Re: Big Shark, Small Boat....

This porbeagle shark was estimated at 200lbs and was caught on a 40ft boat.
