Teignmouth Area

Hello all
This is my 1st post. I’m a new member and new to sea fishing.
I have 17ft Shetland 535 with 60hp ob and launch out of Teignmouth hoping to fish about 5 miles off the coast between Exmouth & Berry Head.
Can anyone give me any advice of what’s the most common species in this area and any recommended marks and best baits?

Very best of fishing to all
David

Re: Teignmouth Area

Alrite Dave,

Fish the sandbanks just outside Teignmouth for some good size makeral and a good chance of bass - over to the Orestone I believe theres good fishing for conger, wrasse, possibly bream and bass.

Not sure where but you can also get smoothies later in the summer for a few weeks so as soon as I find out Ill let you know. Then theres the old faithful - the Galacia Wreck - between Exmouth & Teignmouth but its well overfished so doesnt produce loads but can be good fun !!

Drop me a PM or Jules ( off this site ) and we can give you some more detailed information mate.

Churz

Re: Teignmouth Area

Hi Dave,
I have the same boat as you moored at teignmouth. Welcome to a great place to fish!!! Went out with tommy last week and we fished locally and caught 5 species. Macks, bass, pollack, gurnard and doggies.
There are so many places to fish! Have you got a gps and sounder? I hope you have all the very neccesary safety gear. Tommy and I usually restrict ourselves to about 10 or 11 miles out. I normally fish weekdays as it's so busy at the weekends the fish get frightened away, I do too as the jet ski's are insane. PM me and we'll talk about meeting up and taking the boats out together. i can only fish 2 1/2 hours either side of high tide due to a drying mooring but a 5 hour trip suits me as I live in the middle of somerset.
Will be going out next week sometime, probably friday as the tide looks good.
As Tommy says, PM me and I can be more specific.
cheers Jules.
Stay safe!!!
