| Penarth next week. Hi chaps, i`m hoping to get out in my little boat next tuesday. I havnt been out for a couple of weeks due to the weather and earning some brownie points decorating the mother-in-laws house. I`m going out of Cardiff bay (weather permitting). Can anyone point me in the right direction as to whats being caught and where. I wouldnt mind venturing down to porthkerry way if its worth the trip. __________________ Andy. ------------------- Treat each day as your last, one day you`ll be right. |

| Re: Penarth next week. well we turned left and fished off the foreshore, just before the river mouth about 1/4 mile out. Look on your depth finder and look for big drops, as you pass over them you will spot a gradual increase in depth until it levels off, position the boat so youre fishing into the gully of the drop. look at your charts and find some sand banks to fish on, there are plenty of them out there. Sooner or later you will find some marks that are fishing well. Don't assume because you didn't catch anything there one week then it's no good, try again but at a different stage of the tide, we have several marks which fish on the ebb but on the flood nothing. We have also been finding better fishing close in rather than heading out into deep water. Last 2 years we picked up loads of Rays to 14lb, Bass to 12lb, Bull Huss to 10lb, 30lb Eels, Smoothhound all off the foreshore section. Failing that I could always show you to a few marks if youre out and about when we are. If you want i'll give you my MMSI number and you can try calling us. |

I hear people talking on the radio`s out there but never know who they are or where they are. I have an MMSI number myself which I was given when I applied for my radio licence but alas I have never used it and have to confess would not know how to call up any one elses either. It would be nice to be able to speak to people out there though and even perhaps put a face to a voice sometime. Thanks again KK and I look forward to your MMSI. Be nice to see you out there too Plugger. ![]() __________________ Andy. ------------------- Treat each day as your last, one day you`ll be right. |

| Re: Penarth next week. Hi Keana, haven't you done the Radio course for the DSC. I believe you have to do this course before you can operate a VHF of this type. |

I`ve been in the fire service for nearly 30 years and have been operating radios all that time so i`m quite familiar with radio operation, but have had nothing to do with MMSI numbers unfortunately. __________________ Andy. ------------------- Treat each day as your last, one day you`ll be right. |

| Re: Penarth next week. Funny enougth we had an air traffic controller doing the course when I did mine, and I also have a mate in the Police force who has one but dosent use it as he hasn't done the course either. Don't know exactly what the Law states will have to have a look at the ofcom site out of curiosity now. |

| Re: Penarth next week. The course was for a Radio Operators License, which is personal and for life. The annual renewal fee is the license for the boat and the radio. Without either one, its legal to listen but not to transmit. Steve |
