mackeral fishing

hi chaps,
just wondering how far west of cardiff bay would i have to go to fish for mackies,as i have been told they dont come up around cardiff area.
also how far out into the channel would i need to go.
did i mention will be fishing from boat,

They come up as far as the Nash Point area,mid to late summer,when the waters cleared to a nice blue /green colour.You can catch them close in to the point.

No danger at all,depending on how confident you are with your boat.Check the forecast and chose the right tide and your away...
