| Re: need a boat Hello mate - pretty open question really. Depends on where you are fishing, whether you are after a pontoon berth, a drying or swinging mooring or if you are going to tow and launch every time. As far as licences go I dont think you need any - if your're new to boating Id recommend a basic safety and handling course from a local boat company. If your going to have a big outboard then definenetely worth having a course in boat handling - big outboards are good fun BUT they are just as dangerous and simular to cars so well worth taking a course. Mooring prices vary - our boat in Swansea is £ 1200 for the year and our swing mooring in Exmouth is just £ 30 for renewal as we got it laid. Most marinas and pontoons are likely to have a waiting list anyway so contacting the local mooring authority will probably help in the first place to get a mooring in the river or ooutside a harbour etc. Thats about it mate - enjoy but remember the sea is vast place that has to be treated with total respect. __________________ So near yet so far - Wembley 2008 - Zideered Right Up ! |

| Re: need a boat It's odd but Tommy's right you can go out buy a huge boat launch it and kill yourself and many innocent swimmers and it's legal....no licence required. please take a basic course with the RYA, they're cheap and fun. You will need a radio and do have to go on a small course to get your licence for that. Don't worry you can't fail it as long as you know the phonetic alphabet. Small boat fishing is great fun....but be safe. Cheers Jules __________________ born to fish....forced to work |
