| Hi All,This is my first post on this site.May I ask a simple question? Is uptiding suitable for rough ground(Rocks kelp beds etc.) or is it only suitable for soft sand ,mud etc?My main type of fishing is downtiding amongst the inshore rocks and reefs on the North East coast of England. To be exact off Redcar & Hartlepool.I have not experienced uptiding but I was given a uptider & carbon spool multiplier so I thought I would give it a try!! | Hi Dave, welcome to the forum. I suspect that uptiding over rough ground would be quite, good! I'm not normally a boat fisherman, but do most of my fishing off the beach, rock edges etc, but why not give it a go with the same tactics as you would use from the shore, like rotten bottoms and the like. Don't see why it shouldn't work. Friends of mine uptide off the coast of Sunderland, and regularly catch different species like thornbacks, spurdogs, even had a starry smoothound. They now prefer to uptide rather than just jig over wrecks. My suggestion would be to give it a go, and work out your own solutions as how it works, you can then have an advantage over others when you all decide to go uptiding from the north east coast. Good luck |
