Re: Sick auxillary engine

Hi mate,
I`ve just given up on my engine too. I`ve taken it to Sully Marine. Havnt got a clue what they`re like though but i`ll let you know. There is another called West Point near Asda`s in Cardiff Bay. They` re supposed to be very good its just that Sully Marine is closer to where I live.

Re: Sick auxillary engine

Hi F1. I`ve had my engine back from Sully Marine so I thought i`d give you some info on the service from them. I wont go into the detail of the faults again but suffice to say that it was down to them to determine what was wrong with it because I had failed . Turns out that the starter was knackered after all, having had it serviced by a `cowboy` friend of a friend. But the reason it wouldnt start in the first place was a gummed up carb. So a new base plate on the starter motor and gasket set for the carb resulted in £80 labour and £80 parts. I have no idea if that is reasonable or not. They did say that parts were taking about 2 weeks to get delivered and they were spot on with that so I guess service was fine if maybe a little expensive. I`m just glad to have my boat back and I have to admit the engine does sound sweet. If you want to contact them mate they are at 57 South Rd , Sully. Tel. 02920530052.
