Hi Fisher 1,
Apparently the remand home is no longer used as a remand home. The building is still there but is now used as a home for disturbed youngsters as a result of mental handicaps etc. Not the sort of kids who would vandalise cars and trailers etc.

But thats still no use to us if we cant get our boats under the barrier. Why have the council put the barrier there in the first place and do you reckon its worth lobbying them to get it removed?

I think the barrier was put there to stop people with caravan,motorhomes and gypsy's from gaining access,this is usually the case.
As to whether lobbying would be any good i dont know,but if enough people make enough noise who knows?

Ever thought of joining the ppbsc up at porthcawl.
Launch with a tractor any state of tide and plenty of varied ground to try.

Quite strict with rules but gives u the opportunity to fish both sides of the channel and into swansea bay plus the wrecks.

Your probably right about the caravans etc mate. Pretty poor show though, building a perfectly good slipway and having to limit its use to only the smallest of craft. What a waste. Thanks for the info on Porthcawl as well F1. I use the slip at Channel view at the moment and I met someone in the lock not so long ago from Porthcawl who mentioned the very same thing to me. Unfortunately i`m not in a position to join any clubs at the moment as i`m all spent out financially after spending a fair sum getting my boat into the water. My missus would have a blue fit if I spent any more just a the moment. I think I could be forking out on getting my engine fixed very shortly. Not cheap this boating lark. Thanks for the info though.
