Bass Fishing. Bait V. lures.

So what worked this year guys? I took the boat out 3 times and managed huge numbers of macks and 18 bass on one trip on live sandeels with a weight to take it down.Anyone do better? Still love lures

Unhappy Re: Bass Fishing. Bait V. lures.

It,s not an issue with me, every time I book on a bass fishing charter, it gets cancelled due to rough weather ! We usually end up fishing for mini-species in portland harbour. Bought plenty of shads though. always live in hope.

LURES<>LURES<>LURES!
Large numbers of Bass and Pollock were taken on shads and pirks, jellies only
took pout.
Live sandeels are hard to get here so aren't really an option.

Re: Bass Fishing. Bait V. lures.

My first year moored at Teignmouth I only used lures and caught about 60 bass, however they were relatively small....up to 3 1/2 lbs. Second year only used live sandeels and caught a lot less and really not much bigger..biggest maybe 5 lbs. So really don't know the answer. Certainly cheaper using lures and catch a wider variety of fish. Less smelly too!!! This year is no answer as I did so little fishing unfortunately. yes even flounder take lures!!!
