Re: Any Cod About Fished the Needles area in the Poole Cod comp on the 28th Dec - 170 odd anglers and 6 cod (worse than the 9 cod caught last year!). We were lucky (hehe) and a 13lb fish took the £500 first private boat prize. On gutting the cod's stomach was empty!

Re: Any Cod About Not bad for a days fishing eh! There,s certainly been a decrease of cod caught over the years funny you mentioning cod stomach being empty, quite a few anglers said the same at BRIT-COD CHAMPS. just goes to show there food source is getting scarce cod are feeding elsewhere, who knows ? Time will tell.

Re: Any Cod About yes it is all a bitodd Scooby. at the same time whiting nearby (nab area) are coming in stuffed with sprats as outlined by Steve (Lookfar) elasewhere on here. the cod tend to come into the inshore areas after the sprats and sand crabs, also feeding hard on brittle stars a bit further out as well apparantly. one way or another the 'system' is changing in the area at the moment - might be temporary - might not.

Re: Any Cod About I just hope things improve fingers crossed it is just temporary duncan. Friend of mine purchased a 17' wilson flyer back in june we've only managed 3 trips so far out of lee on solent need a bit more experience before we tackle nab & needles areas but hopfully be out there amongst the cod next season.
