Re: Any Cod About

Hi Darren,
There are two slips. The Hayling Island side follow signs for the ferry, park in the pub car-park but they charge, about a fiver including trailer. Slip can be a little slick but it is kept clear as the Harbourmaster's Office is right by it. There's a bit of a cross-tide at times, launch at low tide is onto firm sand.
I prefer the Eastney side. For that one, come in from the A27,A2040 for Southsea. Follow it in for about two miles through various lights etc, until you get a major junction with lights and a left filter lane, big yellow factory unit opposite. Go left, should be signposted Seafront and/or a brown sign for Marina.
A couple of hundred yards on the right is a garage to fuel up.
Carrying on into Southsea after the garage, there’s a road forks right straight away which you ignore. At the next set of lights, you go straight on.
You will pass some shops, including a white-fronted chandlers on the LHS. Just after it are some lights, go left following brown Marina sign. Road swings right then you take a LH fork on a corner, again signposted Marina. You pass the Marina main gates on your left, pass a gated road on the right and take the next small turning on the right. This is a narrow track leading to the slip.
No trouble turning or parking (free) at the slip. It is steepish and can be covered in gravel - take a shovel. If its really bad you might have to use Hayling instead. Slip is covered for most of the tide but the foreshore is firm gravel, I've only once had to do a roped recovery.
You should pay harbour dues over at the office above the opposite slip. About £8 I think, I have a season ticket so not certain. Mail me at s.marley@imperial.ac.uk for more details rather than clog up the forum

Steve
