3rd time lucky

Well after having two boat trips cancelled this week due to the weather I eventually managed to get out today on Colin Penny's boat Flamer out of Weymouth. The boat had been booked by a group of guys for a species competition & there was one spare place (I,m still trying to get on a Bass fishing trip but the weather continues to conspire against me) The forecast was pretty bad still & Flamer was the only charter boat to go out from Weymouth today. The water was very coloured & pretty choppy, which made fishing difficult & me somewhat ill "In an unselfish gesture I donated my bacon roll & coffee as groundbait". However several species were caught thanks to the skills & hard work of skipper Colin. Mostly small doggies, wrasse & pollack etc although a 4lb wrasse was caught by Andy Selby of the Weymouth Angling Centre. I would like to thank Andy for lending me a rig that helped to vastly improve my catch rate. It was one that he copied from this years Italian world champion team. In the end a good time was had by all & except for a small shower , the sun stayed out all day. On a more sobering note, we spent most of the day watching the coastguard helecopter searching for two teenage boys who were washed off the rocks at Lulworth by a large wave the previous evening. I feel sure all our thoughts go out to their families & those involved in the search.

Re: 3rd time lucky

Good days fishing by the sound of it.Worst possible day for the kids who got washed away....a warning to us all on how powerful nature can be.My thoughts are with the families of the kids involved......

Re: 3rd time lucky

Good day's fishing but as you say sad news about the boys. Just shows we must take care of the safety gear as well as the fishing gear.

My thoughts go out to the families of the boys.
