| Boat Trip Poole - The results Well, did we manage to beat the White Huntress & Carnage Crew's total of 96 fish? Not a chance, but then again we never expected to. A very slow days fishing (9 countable fish plus a number of uncounted mackie) with the main highlight being Tim 'It cost me £50' Bristow managing to lose one of the skippers rod and Mitchell reels overboard. I think Ade thought we were having him on at first, but nope over it went. I think Tim has duly earned the title, 'Butterfingers'. Winner on the day was Andy Gorrie , with Butterfingers coming in second (I know) and Carlton and myself joint third, though I think Carlton deserves to take it as he had more fish than me, but my points added up to more. Carlton also caught his very first Dogfish, plus had the dubious honour of catching the first fish of the day, a Weever. Maybe that Weever signalled a poor days fishing. We anglers are a superstious lot!Two sickies on board this week too, and I was NOT one of them! My son did a great job of groundbaiting the downtide area on two occassions and Geoff managed to stay calm and collected throughout the day, but has decided that fishing aboard a boat is not for him. I think the fishing was very quiet all around the Poole area yesterday with other boats not catching many, but the company made up for it and we had a good laugh with Andy keeping the smiles on our faces. Thanks again lads and sorry if it wasn't as fruitful as we would have liked, but that's fishing. Next forum event is the 'Members Day' on 19th June at Chesil Beach. Looks like we are going to get a decent turn out with 15 people wanting to come along so far. All of you are welcome, so see you there. Just as a reminder, the fishing commences at 17:30 with high water at 20:30. The early part of the day will be about meeting up having a chat, a few beers, BBQ and just having a relaxing time with a casting comp thrown in. __________________ Back to the fizzy pop league for another season |
