At Last after 51yrs I got a BASS

True to his word Frank arranged a trip on his boat Vagabond on Monday to break my Bass life time duck.
I arrived at the slip to see Frank and his son Brett getting the boat ready to launch, we got the tractors out and where away just before 9am

We were soon fishing at anchor with out results so Frank determined to break my duck decided to try different tactics and fish on the drift.

We were drifting at a good rate of knots each drift taking about 10 minuets, I was not the only person on board hoping to catch their first Bass, Brett also had not had one, he gets a knock with a good rod bend but its quickly gets off.

Its not long before we are joined by other boats in a daisy chain, its not looking good when Frank jumps up, fish on it puts up a good fight and we have it in the net a 3 1/2lb Bass. I knew they had defence spikes but not that many seems where ever you hold it it'll get you, its soon dispatch to the fish box.

I had not had a knock all morning and was beginning to think here we go again everyone getting knocks and catching fish whilst I work like mad copying every thing they do and end up fish less
"when BANG the rod bends over I think its a fish but it feels like I've snag the bottom but it can't be its moving BANG BANG its a fish bloody hell its a fish its a BASS.
Then the line goes slack NO NO I start to wind in fast BANG its still on BANG the rods bending Franks shouting instructions the line goes slack again I'm determined to land this fish BANG rods bending
Then I see it a Bass on my line not massive 3 3/4ld but its a Bass. The heart stops as Frank tries to net it and it jumps out for a second run but he quickly has it back in.

And here it is not the biggest BASS you have seen but I have spent years and £000s to get this picture
