Re: boat trip

hi guys and gals right! the boat has been definitly booked for the 1st august, due to the tide we will be bottom fishing and we will move during the day to get out of the tide which will be running very fast but no probs.
I will organise bait although we will start the day off by going for fresh mackerel. but I will also bring hermit crabs squid and frozen sand eels.
we will draw for boat positions and change round half way through. there will be a competition and a plaque for the winner. the basic rules for the comp is:- maximum of three hooks (pennel counts as two hooks).a fish is deemed to be landed if the trace is being held, (to facilitate the release of tope without bringing them into the boat) extra points are awarded for number of species over three. max of five pout mackerel and doggies to count.each person fishing will be given his score sheet at the end of the day. a full copy of the rules will be on the boat its not complicated and will give everyone a chance.
I have six definites for the trip and would like two more forum members if possible.

Re: boat trip

Sounds a great day out Gus. Thanks for organizing this. If it's a success (and why not) we could extend it to a regional comp. Maybe other forum members could arrange the same event in their area, say NE, NW (inc Wales) and SE and the winner and runner up of each regional comp head off to a final. We could draw lots to choose the port, or if we feel it's something that will happen every year, rotate the port for the final.

Re: boat trip

hi ben, there are weights on the boat, I will show you how to make up the rigs you need on the way out. If I have time I will make a set of boat fishing rigs for you and label them so you know what they're for and what bait to use with them. and then you can use them as patterns for the future.

Re: boat trip

hi D.S. yep I can't see why we should'nt do something along those lines, still we can have a talk about it on the 23rd The other thing that could be done is that we enter the I.S.A.C. BOAT LEAGUE which is already up and running with boats entered from all over the uk and crewed by forum members. still that another thing we can talk about.

cheers Gus

Re: boat trip

Thanks Paul, thanks Gus. Really looking forward to it, sorry for not posting previously, Paul told me about trip and I've missed loads on the forum because I've been so busy with work/Mrs/baby, I really need to sort out my priorities better :)

I will be driving down from West London in the morning so if I can help anyone out with a lift please just give me a shout
