| Codling in June. First real fishing trip for our boat yesterday in the Lougher estuary. What a beautiful day, calm, sunny and shared our fishing with a visiting seal. Finished the day elated and exhausted - shed loads of fish Amongst the pollack, mackeral, bass, dabs, tope, doggies were 2 codling +/- 4lbs. The codling were caught on a 'helicopter' rig and using a 6" Stormy sandeel lure. End of the day had a few of these fishing is fantastic Fortunately, the local guy aboard took us to his 'secret marks' and it's just like my signature says. __________________ * <0((fluff))< " 90% of the fish are in 10% of the water " |

| Re: Codling in June. Hey Jack did u know that they still get the odd BIG stingray on the banks at the mouth to the estuary. normally fall to big ragworm baits or peeler crab. couldnt tell you what tides etc as the fish are quite a rarity but they do show. the bass have started showing aswell. keep promising myself a rough ground session over low water at burry port but need to find cheaper crabs first!!! not paying 75p for small crabs again! lol __________________ South Wales Angling Guide - Shore Angling in South Wales |

Sorry, no pics. Didn't take a camera as I didn't really expect to catch much - wrong again I put a 'cross' on the side of the boat, where we were catching 'em all. So, we should be able to find that mark again Cheers. - Fluff __________________ * <0((fluff))< " 90% of the fish are in 10% of the water " |

Quite agree the price of the 'peelers' makes them unaffordable. We managed to get all the fish on spinners, lures, lugworm and fresh macky. A lot of good size bass are being caught at the moment on particular lures. Saw a guy with a tray of 16 large bass and he'd already sold some on the way in ! With people like him and the netters the bass are having a hard time. Too many people are regarding the bass as financial income instead of sport. Unfortunately, this is "live for now and sod the future". Makes me I know of an area a couple of miles out of BP with rocks and peeps catching some bass on crab. I'm going to have a go with the Stormy sandeels there and see what happens? The prob with BP is because of tides and auto lock gates you can only get out for 4hrs or 12hrs. Where we went the other day is 7mls from port. OK if it's flat and you can plane it all the way.But that's not often. So you either wait for a settled high pressure and go out 12hrs, when the tide matches or go 4hrs over HW, close to BP. I think the big skate are around DZ5 and 6 ???? Because of the situation regarding local netters for bass etc, the actual where and with what I will not publish here. But if you PM me we can discuss further details etc. Cheers - Fluff __________________ * <0((fluff))< " 90% of the fish are in 10% of the water " |

| Re: Codling in June. coincidence - got a codling Saturday too and on a shad! bit more conventional though as I took the boat out to the rips (sort of midway between Solent and France........) had a good trip - codling, pollack, brill, spurdog and a heap of rays when we ran back inshore later. isn't it great to have decent weather! |
