Re: orkney 19 We used to have an Orkney - nice boats mate ! I would advise you to make sure that the bung is fully tight and in - save you sinking I guess......... __________________ So near yet so far - Wembley 2008 - Zideered Right Up !

Re: orkney 19 Thanks for your reply tommy a. I was led to believe that it has a false bottom and when the boat is not under power this slightly fills up to give more stability.....and when under way this self drains ???? At the moment i have decided to keep it in (all the time). tomp

Re: orkney 19 tomp bung is a standtard feature of trailer boats and should be out when the boats out of the water to allow rain etc to drain straight out (and fresh air to keep the bilge dry) and in when the boat is in the water to keep the water out! some choose to only tak eit out occassionally in case they forget to put it back in but most realise that doing it everytime is the best routine.

Re: orkney 19 Duncan is right, the idea of the bung is the let the hull breath when the boat is out of the water, also wind up the jocket wheel if on a trailer to let any water drain towards the transom. Hope that helps Brett __________________ Rough seas = Ground baiting

Re: orkney 19 God, I'd love an Orkney 19.... Sounds like I might have been able to salvage one off the bottom of the sea if you'd left that bung out whilst on a long trip.... As everyone said, IN for when on the sea, OUT to let bilge or hull/whatever drain. (Usually boat tips down at the back anyway to allow this, even on the flat, due to the angle of trailers) __________________ Jason - Got the flavour for fishing back!
