Eastbourne catch report

well due to popular demand and andy not having done so yet here is the report from saturday
started up nice and early at 5am! brett came to pick me up at 6ish and we were on our way to eastbourne, i think we got there around half 7 where we meet john marshal and a friend of his, mark
we had a quick food break in asda at the cafe where i had some very nice apple pie
andy turned up around 9 with drew and his friend
we loading up the boat and after a shoe inspection and safety talk we were on our way, the skipper seemed abit touchy about his deck
got to the 1st wreck and were into the fish on the 1st drift, brett got a small whiting and drews friend (forget the name, sorry ) had a pout
next drift drew and andy both had nice cod, drews was around 5lb and andy's was 4lb, drew was using a white storm shad and im not sure about andy
every1 was getting lots of pout now and john had a nice little pollack of about 1lb
the most produtive way of fishing was pulling bait along the bottom, this acounted for lots of pout and my red gurnard (a 1stfor me)

drew had a nice pollack off of this wreck as well
over slack water we started moving around to different places
then the macky hit! lots of them of ranging sizes most of which were masive, on the same drift i got my pollack on a pirk

on the same wreck andy got 2 nice sized whiting and 1 macky(while every1 else bagged up ) and john got a nice pollack on mackerel feathers

this was teh biggest fish of the day
on the next wreck it was much the same, lots of pout and mackerel and then john got snaged up on the bottom fishing with a pirk and mackerel feathers, he managed to break out lossing the pirk but he had a fish on, a little while later he landed him self a nice coal fish!(pic soon to come from andy)
nothing else eventful happened other than lots of pout and mackerel
a very enjoyable day had by all i think, i sertainly enjoyed it
thanks for organising it andy

Re: Eastbourne catch report

Well done Ben, sure Andy will add.
The "shoe inspection" is true, we were asked to check the soles of our boots/shoes to make sure no stones were stuck in the tread, so we didn't scratch the deck which was fibre glass, ?????

But a good day out, GREAT COMPANY, fish, calm sea and a little sun.
Looking forward to the next forum boat meet on 21st of May.

Thankyou to Andy for the day.

Re: Eastbourne catch report

OK, sorry for the delay, I've been looking after the wee man today as Tammy was working, then we had friends round for dinner. Ben thanks for doing the report, I was just about to do it but see I don't have to now.

So, Here are some more pics, Drew and I showing off our cod, John's coalie and a wee piccy of 2 late whiting I bagged. I'd just like to add that I had a great day and the company and fishing turned out splendid. I caught around a dozen fish, though more than half of them were pout (big pout) which is a decent result given the recent hard fishing conditions we've had.

Oh yeah, there's also a piccy of me and my sole mackerel - point and a half for the species hunt please Mr Administrator. Thanks Ben for pointing out that I only caught one maccy (and that was foul hooked) while everyone else bagged up. But then again I only caught one cod, how many cod was it you had ben?
